SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 06
Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga said that to
promote local industry in the State, Industries and Commerce department has
established a number of Industrial Estates in the State for setting up of
industrial units by intended local entrepreneurs by providing land on lease
basis. He further said that a number of areas are also being developed for
setting up of Industrial Estates within the State.
The Minister said this while replying to a question by Yasir Reshi in the
Legislative Council today. The Minister said that for establishing and
promoting local industries in the State various incentives are being given to
entrepreneurs including 100% subsidy on purchase of new DG sets, laboratory
equipment and reimbursement on preparation of feasibility report besides tax
incentives, central package including subsidy on capital investment in plant
and machinery to micro, small, medium and large scale units.
The Minister said that under PMEGP unemployed youth are helped for
setting up their own ventures. He said the government is working on multi
pronged strategy for promotion and uplifting of handicrafts and silk industry
in the State with initiatives including Artesian, Credit card Scheme,
Development of other Crafts in J&K, Modern carpet looms, enhancement of
stipend rate, setting up of IICT/CDI, establishment of International Trade
Centre at Pampore, upgrading and setting up of new showrooms outside the State,
integrated skill development scheme, marketing support and setting up of four
Carpet Production Centers.
The Minister said for promoting sericulture and silk industry in the
State, necessary technical and financial support is given to the Kiramkash
community of the State for enhancing cocoon production and arranging all
facilities to make this occupation profitable for this community.
